NOT CHARGED | FRAUD SCHEMES/THEFT – (Maricopa County) (DMC No. ): Mr. M. worked at a local car dealership where he was accused of stealing $70,000.00 worth of parts with 2 other employees. Due to his full cooperation with Detectives, we were able to keep Mr. M. from being charged in exchange for information on the other 2 individuals involved. This prevented Mr. M. from facing prison time.
NOT CHARGED | THEFT (Maricopa County) (DMC No. 3942): Mr. K. worked for an armored car company. After a pick-up at a local bank, the armored car company claimed there was $1,000.00 missing from the bag. Mr. K. had been working with 2 other employees during the pick-ups and counting of the money. Various tactics were used by his employer to pressure Mr. K. into a confession, but he denied all wrongdoing. They subsequently fired him, and we became involved. After having our own expert review their accounting procedures, it was discovered there was no money missing. No charges were brought against Mr. K. and he was offered his old job back (which he declined).
NOT CHARGED | THEFT – (Maricopa County) (DMC No. 4085): Mr. U. was an employee of a local hotel chain. He had a $5,000.00 plasma TV shipped to his own home, rather than to the resort he worked at. The shipping company was confused, and had the TV delivered to the resort instead of to Mr. U.’s address. He was charged with Theft (even though he never took possession of the TV). We were able to contact his employers (who had terminated him), and they agreed not to aid in prosecution with the State. We then spoke with the Detective, and he agreed to not submit the case to the County Attorney’s Office for charges.
NOT CHARGED | THEFT – (Maricopa County) (DMC No. 4218): Ms. S. had 3 pending felony cases regarding stolen vehicle, drugs, and money laundering. We contacted detectives and put together a “cooperation deal” which resulted in the detective not routing the case to the County Attorney’s Office. As a result, not only was Ms. S. not charged, all 3 cases became “invisible” within the system.
NOT CHARGED | FRAUD/FORGERY – (Maricopa County) (DMC No. 4158): Mr. S. was originally cited for Driving on a Suspended License, and the judge issued a Bench Warrant with a bond of $3,800 dollars. Bond was posted by a local bailbonds company after Mr. S. paid a 10% fee. Mr. S.’s turned in a form to the bailbonds company indicating the bond had been released by the Court in order to get property (a quad runner) released as collateral. Allegations were made that Mr. S. had forged the judge’s signature on the release form. Through working with the bailbonds company and speaking with detectives, we were able to resolve this as a civil matter and the detectives agreed not to file any charges.
REDUCED | THEFT – (Maricopa County Superior Court No. CR2006-177298): Mr. D. was stopped for a minor traffic violation when police found that he had an outstanding traffic warrant. Upon searching him, they found a firearm. When police ran the serial numbers on the gun it came back as stolen. Mr. D. told police he had obtained the gun from his cousin, who was currently in prison for theft and he may have had an idea that the gun could have been stolen. We were able to convince the prosecutors that this was not a true felony, and Mr. D. plead to a misdemeanor with no days in jail. He was initially facing years in prison.
NOT CHARGED | CONDUCTING ILLEGAL ENTERPRISE (PROSTITUTION) / RICO – (DMC No. 4046) State v. Ms. B.: Police executed a search warrant at Ms. B’s home apartment, and her business apartment. She lived at her home apartment, and was running a beauty salon in her business apartment. She had friends who would also give private massages at the business apartment. During a sting operation, an undercover police officer was in the apartment for a massage and was fully naked. It appears there may have been some sexual contact with him before he left. Because of this fact, and the potential embarrassment to the police agency, we were able to convince the prosecutor to decline any charges.
NOT CHARGED | THEFT / COUNTERFEIT APPAREL & DESTRUCTION OF EVIDENCE – State vs. Mr. E. (DMC No. 9991) (Phoenix Police Department No. 2008-81008727): Mr. E. worked for a mobile storage company. A particular unit was rented by the NFL to store counterfeit merchandise during the January Superbowl at Cardinal’s stadium. Approximately 5 months later, they were not receiving anymore bills for the mobile unit due to the fact that it had been re-rented by somebody else. Allegations were made that counterfeit items were taken out of the mobile unit by employees before the unit was re-rented. Mr. E. was being accused of Theft, Possession of Counterfeit Merchandise and Destruction of Evidence. He hired us; we were able to convince the FBI, Department of Homeland Security and Phoenix Police that there was not enough evidence to move forward against Mr. E. No charges were brought.
DISMISSED | FELONY THEFT / FORGERY – State vs. Mr. M. (DMC No. 9976) (Maricopa County Superior Court No. CR2010-145563): Mr. M. made money by buying and selling used iphones on craigslist. Earlier in the day, he bought a used iphone at one location, and then he went to a Fry’s electronics to buy another iphone. Police showed up and claimed that he had used counterfeit money when buying the first iphone earlier in the day. Mr. M. adamantly denied that allegation, and he (and his girlfriend) stated that the person making the claim was not the person who he had met with earlier in the day. He was eventually charged with Theft and Forgery and after interviewing numerous witnesses, we were able to convince the prosecutor that the charges had no merit, and they agreed to Dismiss all charges.
NOT CHARGED | WIRE FRAUD / SECURITIES FRAUD – Mr. D was the owner of an International Bank based out of Scottsdale, Arizona. He was accused of defrauding investors of over $1,000,000.00 due to the fact that the bank invested income in various construction projects in Florida. Eventually, these projects went “belly up”, and there was no money to pay back the investors. The FBI and the U.S. Attorney’s Office were investigating Mr. D for Sale of Unlicensed Securities, Theft and various RICO violations. Mr. Cantor became involved with the FBI agents and the U.S. Attorney and demonstrated to them that this was not a criminal case, it was actually a civil case that needed to be resolved between the investors and Mr. D. The U.S. Attorney’s Office declined to prosecute Mr. D.
