If you were stopped for a DUI or misdemeanor crime and sent to Hassayampa Justice Court, you must have been stopped by DPS or the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. If a city cop arrested you, then he or she should have sent you to a city court.

Court Boundaries

Hassayampa Justice Court has jurisdictional boundaries that you must have been arrested in. The boundaries form a slanted rectangle. If you weren’t within these jurisdictional boundaries when you were arrested and told to go to Hassayampa Justice Court, you have a jurisdictional defense. The boundaries are I-60 to the north, Bell Road to the south, Lake Pleasant Road to the east and Eagle Eye Road to the west. Contact DM Cantor to make sure you were actually within these boundaries when you were arrested.

Hassayampa Justice Court is located at 14264 West Tierra Buena Lane in Surprise, Arizona. Maricopa County Justice Courts are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday through Friday. You can reach Hassayampa Justice Court at 602-372-2000. There’s plenty of free parking out front. When you go to court, don’t wear shorts, tank tops, hats or sunglasses. Dress appropriately and professionally.

Keep in mind that justices of the peace did not go to law school, and they usually are not lawyers. Justices of the Peace are elected and given just six weeks of training.
