Video review of the Maryvale Justice Court and presiding Judge:
If you have been directed to the Maryvale Justice Court for a misdemeanor or DUI citation then you’ve been arrested by either DPS or the Maricopa Sheriff’s Office. Note that if you were arrested by a Phoenix city police officer, then you would be directed to city court.
The Maryvale Justice Court’s jurisdictional boundaries are 67th Avenue to the west, 35th Drive to the east, Grand Avenue to the north and Lower Buckeye Road to the south. These boundaries do not make a perfect square so it is essential to determine that the arrest was actually made within these boundaries. If that is not the case, an individual will have a jurisdictional defense to the charge which can result in the entire case being dismissed and you should contact us immediately.
The Maryvale Justice Court is located at 10420 W Van Buren St. , which is basically at West Indian School Road and 47th Avenue. The court’s business hours are 8 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday, and the phone number is (602) 372-8002. Plenty of free parking is available in front of the courthouse. Individuals arriving to the courthouse should use common sense to dress appropriately. Basically, sunglasses, hats, shorts, t-shirts, tank tops, sweat pants and other similar clothing items should not be worn.
The judge at the Maryvale Justice Court is Judge Andrew Gastelum, who is actually a lawyer and somewhat defense oriented in his decisions. The only issue is that often the court takes awhile so it is a good idea to have a lawyer when attending proceedings at the Maryvale Justice Court. If you would like to speak with a lawyer for free about your case, give us a call at (602) 307-0808 or send us an email and we’ll find a time that works for you.
