State v. Mr. P (DMC No. 16550) – (9 Counts) Felony Sexual Conduct with a Minor (13-year-old Minor/63-year-old Adult) Dangerous Crimes Against Children (with 2 Prior Sex Crimes Convictions) – Not Charged/High-Profile Catholic Priest Case “Turned Down” – Phoenix Police Department Investigated, and Private Law Firm Investigated (CV 20XX-XXXXX2)

This high-profile case, a Catholic priest who previously had been convicted in 1994 of Child Sexual Abuse, and was sentenced to 12 years in Prison. He had been living his life post-Prison and post-Probation with no criminal allegations. Then, in 2014, a Civil Plaintiff started having “recovered memories”, and claimed that when he was a child, he was Molested by Mr. P. He then filed a civil suit, and had the Phoenix Police Department investigate Mr. P. This is when Mr. P secured the services of DM Cantor.

We immediately contacted the Detectives involved, and the Church’s Insurance Defense Attorney, and informed them we could make Mr. P available for interview regarding this alleged Victim. In addition, we informed them that Mr. P had taken a polygraph exam and “passed”, specifically regarding this individual. Lastly, we let it be known that we felt this was simply a “money grab” from somebody who attended the Catholic school that Mr. P worked at over 20 years prior. In fact, it was our contention that these allegations were ridiculous, and fraudulent. Ultimately, the Phoenix Police Department Declined to File any Charges against Mr. P. If they had, given his Prior Criminal History, he would have spent the Rest of his Life in Prison.
