State v. Mr. C (DMC No. 16141) – Felony Aggravated Luring of a Minor for Sexual Exploitation, and Felony Furnishing Obscene Materials to a Minor – Not Charged – Goodyear Police Department Investigated

Mr. C had a very tumultuous relationship with his son. They had been involved in some physical alterations, and his son had been sent to Durango Juvenile Detention Facility on two separate occasions. As they were living together and having more problems, Mr. C began getting pictures from a female with a covered face and covered body parts, along with provocative texts. He then received naked body photos for two weeks and snapshot without the face being contained therein. Eventually, the person began sending pictures of herself masturbating, and Mr. C sent a picture (two times) of his own penis. The person then showed her face, and it was Mr. C’s son’s girlfriend.

Shortly thereafter, the son sent a text to Mr. C stating “if you don’t put $5,000 into my account by 6 p.m., I’m telling your fiancé what you did with my girlfriend”. Mr. C gave him no money, and then the son sent the video to Mr. C’s fiancé, and also sent a video of the girlfriend stating that she was infatuated with Mr. C. It was at this point that Mr. C’s fiancé called the Police. Mr. C then secured the services of DM Cantor.

We then contacted the Goodyear Police Department, and showed them all of the texts, along with date stamps and when they were sent to Mr. C. Clearly, he was set up with an Extortion Attempt by his son and his son’s girlfriend. We also gave them copies of the prior Police Reports and Criminal Convictions regarding Mr. C’s son. In the end, they agreed not to Route his case to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office for Felony Charges, and then instead they began investigating the son and the son’s girlfriend for Extortion. Had Mr. C actually been Charged and Convicted, he could have done Prison time and be required to Register as a Sex Offender for the Rest of His Life.
