Sean Kraut was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He attended the University of Manitoba and received his Bachelor’s degree in Criminology and Political Studies. He then attended the University of North Dakota School of Law, before moving to Arizona to begin his legal career.
In law school, Sean focused his studies on criminal law, where he interned at both a prosecutor’s office and a public defender’s office. Working on both sides allowed him to gain valuable insight into how the criminal justice system works, how prosecutors approach different misdemeanor and felony offenses, and how defense attorneys effectively advocate for the accused.
After law school, Sean passed the Arizona bar exam and began working as a criminal defense attorney with the Maricopa County Office of the Public Defender, where he handled hundreds of felony criminal cases from arraignment through plea negotiation and sentencing. Sean obtained numerous favorable outcomes for his clients through relentless negotiation, litigation, and effective advocacy both in and out of the courtroom. Sean’s extensive experience ultimately led him to DM Cantor, where he is dedicated to upholding his client’s rights, and to helping them effectively navigate the stress and uncertainty of the criminal justice system.
In his free time, Sean enjoys hiking, going on road trips, and spending time with his Bengal cat, Lily.
