Take the US-60 into Apache Junction and proceed north onto North Idaho Rd approximately 2 to 2 ½ miles. Veer to the right on Route 88. Follow the road to the left into the complex. It is a rather large complex standing next to a public park. Parking is outside the main building.
Upon Entering the Courthouse
The Courtroom is located in suite 200. Sign in at the front window. Always arrive at court at least 15 minutes before scheduled, earlier if you need to meet with your attorney.
Dress appropriately for court, at minimum dress shirt and slacks or dress. Dressing too casual may imply to the court that you do not take the matter seriously. Cut off shorts, flip flops or beachwear is not considered appropriate apparel for a court appearance.
The Court
The Apache Junction Justice Court is a court of limited jurisdiction. This means it does not hear felony cases or civil cases involving more than $10,000. On the other hand, the court can still sentence you to up to 6 months in the county jail; fine you up to $2500 or both. It is one of the largest Justice Court precincts in the state.
It has the authority to issue arrest warrants and search warrants in criminal cases and restraining orders in domestic cases. Justice Court is also referred to as Justice of the Peace Court.
