State v. Ms. N (DMC No. 16928) – Felony Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm (Shannon’s Law) – Arizona Board of Nursing Declined License Suspension (with Alternative to Discipline Program Classes) – Arizona State Board of Nursing (RN No. 1XXXX2)
Ms. N had been going through various mental health issues, and she had Discharged a Firearm within the City Limits in Phoenix. She was Arrested and charged with Felony Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm, “Shannon’s Law”. It was at this time she secured the services of DM Cantor.
We were ultimately able to secure a Class 6 Open/Misdemeanor with Probation for six months and Zero Days in Jail. She ultimately Successfully Completed Probation. We also immediately had her self-report to the Arizona State Board of Nursing regarding this charge.
We put together a Mitigation Package to show Ms. M’s prior mental health issues. We also showed that she completed mental health counseling and classes, and she also no longer is drinking alcohol. Because we had her self-report, we were able to convince the Arizona State Board of Nursing to Decline a License Suspension, and instead allow her the Alternative to Discipline Program Classes. Ms. N Successfully Completed all Classes, and is a successful practicing nurse today.
