State v. Mr. F (DMC No. 15273) – Impersonation of Another (per ASU Code 5-308 F-5), and Theft (per ASU Code 5-308 F-14) – Suspension Avoided, and Title IX Violation Dismissed (After ASU Hearing) – ASU Office of Educational Outreach and Student Services Investigated
Mr. F would host many social events, and gatherings at his house. One night he met an individual named Roman, and they began talking about the cryptocurrency market. As they got into the discussion, Roman set up a new account utilizing Mr. F’s ASU ID and ASU email accounts so they could profitably buy and sell cryptocurrency coins. He also provided an EIN number and Social Security Number that he had. The “merchant account” was created on a platform known as Bloomforth. They were supposed to split any profits at a rate of 80 percent to 20 percent.
After this was going on for a while, Mr. F received an email from the Dean of Students at ASU stating he was being Suspended due to Fraudulent Charges under two different accounts. It was at this point that he secured the services of DM Cantor.
We determined exactly what had happened, and we presented evidence that the Block Collection that was utilized by Roman had no connection whatsoever to Mr. F’s bank accounts. Mr. F did not make any money, or have money put into his personal accounts. Unfortunately, Roman was collecting cryptocurrencies on the blockchain, and using a very specific account. People would run their credit cards in order to” buy coins”, and he would simply keep the money. We were able to prove to the ASU Office of Educational Outreach and Student Services that Mr. F did not violate the ASU Code of Conducts, in fact, he was also a Victim. The ASU governing body agreed with us, and Dismissed all Allegations against Mr. F. Mr. F was Not Suspended, and was allowed to graduate college. He has No Criminal Record.
