Courtney Sullivan has been practicing law for her entire career focused exclusively in the area of criminal defense. Prior to joining DM Cantor, Courtney worked for other private criminal defense firms in the valley, including running her own firm. While in law school, she participated the the Public Defender Clinic and externed at the Arizona Court of Appeals. Courtney believes everyone deserves to be treated fairly regardless of circumstance, and is especially passionate about advocating for clients who may have committed their offenses as a result of personal tragedy and mental health afflictions. Most of these people tend to be pushed through the system without having a chance to receive the help they need.
She has represented clients in all stages of their cases, from pre-charge investigation through jury trial, appeal, and post-conviction relief. Courtney has handled all types of cases in all courts in Arizona, including misdemeanors, DUIs, felonies, sex cases, and probation violations.
Prior to law school, Courtney worked professionally in sales and marketing, and as an English teacher. She has a B.A. in journalism and English from Iowa State University, a M.A. in teaching from University of Southern California, and a J.D. from Arizona State University. Her education and professional experience outside of the legal field easily tie into her criminal defense practice. Courtney based her education and career path on her exceptional writing skills and ability to easily communicate with people.
Courtney handles post-conviction and appellate cases; as well as playing a part in DM Cantor’s Pre-Charge team, representing individuals who are being investigated, but have not yet been charged.
