Watch this video of DM Cantor, a Board Certified Criminal Law Specialist, describe in detail what to expect when visiting the Gila County Superior Court and the Globe Justice Court in Globe, AZ.

The Gila County Superior Court and the Globe Justice Court happen to be in the same building in Globe, Arizona. The Superior Court is located on the second floor of 1400 E Ash St., while the Justice Court is located on the first floor. Both courts operate from 8:00 in the morning until 5:00 in the evening from Monday to Friday. The only exception to this schedule is the second Friday of every month. On that day, the court doesn’t open until 9 a.m. The first hour is used for courtroom training.

To get to the Gila County Superior Court, take the US 60 towards Globe, Arizona, until it turns into Ash Street. The court building will be located on the south side of the street. There is a Jack in the Box just to the west that most people from the area are familiar with. You should be able to see the court complex from there. Parking is available on the west side of the street, which is also where the entrance is accessible.

When you arrive, you’ll have to sign in, and court officials will help you get where you need to go. You will also have to check in with the bailiff, and after that you’ll speak to the Judge or the Prosecutor for your case.

If your case is before the Justice Court, it is probably for a misdemeanor. However, these cases are still serious. Misdemeanor convictions can result in up to six months of jail time or fines totaling thousands of dollars. On the other hand, if your case is before the Superior Court, you’re probably facing felony charges. Some felony charges carry mandatory sentences of prison time. Regardless of which court you’re appearing in, it is important to have an experienced criminal defense attorney review your case beforehand and offer advice.

Before attending court, make sure you’re dressed appropriately. Just as you would for a job interview, choose professional attire. This will indicate to the Judge or Prosecutor that you are taking your court date seriously and have respect for the court. Articles of clothing such as flip-flops, baseball hats, sunglasses, T-shirts, short shorts, or short skirts or dresses are not appropriate..

Before attending court, find out who your Judge will be. Knowing your Judge ahead of time can be an advantage, as it will let us prepare for their particular style. To find out more about the Gila County Superior Court Presiding Judge or the Globe Justice Court Presiding Judge, click on “Judges” at the top menu of this page and we are happy to advise whether your judge is: pro-state, pro-defense or down the middle.

Regardless of the charges you’re facing, if you’re required to appear in either the Gila County Superior Court or the Globe Justice Court, you can use an aggressive criminal defense attorney on your side. Give us a call at (602) 307-0808 or fill out our Free Consultation Request Form, and we can schedule a time to meet and go over your case from top to bottom. During the consultation, we’ll review all the details of your case and try to find a way to avoid a conviction.
